Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult period, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional championship, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued four early opportunities in a tight third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
